Hi!

Im Ven and i am getting really anxious if i can still do a marathonn in less than a month.

To begin with, in April 2009, I was 25 when i underwent ecg as requirement before having my gallbladder removed. The cardiologist who cleared me said that he only cleared me because i had to undergo a surgery but i need to visit him after i recuperate...which i didnt follow

In 2011-2012, I was having difficulties in breathing, had palpitations, light-headedness, shaky hands, weak left hand and excruciating chest pain. I finally went for a check-up and underwent ecg, 24hr holter and stress test. My ecg result showed that i have sinus arryhthmia, PAC and PVC. Sadly, i was not able to keep my stress test and holter results. After the tests, i did not go for a f/up which i regeret now.

Presently, I am 33 years old, I am training for a marathon and this is my first full mary and i need to secure a medical certificate by next week since the event will be on the 19th of feb.

Last Wednesday, a local cardiologist told me that he will not give me medication yet (this maybe is the reason why im getting anxious..i mean..do i have to medicate?)..i did show him my ecg result from feb 2012..but i only told him that i have palpitations...sometimes i get exhausted and i have no difficulty in breathing.. Moving forward, i underwent ecg and 2decho..and will get the result and f/up in 2 days.

While waiting for that day, i am hoping someone who is familiar with my situation can give me any advice. I would greatly appreciate it smile

Thank you!

;P

ven, naughty you for not following up over the yrs!!! aside from this you got to wait. i mean, going into a full marathon with no prep or lead up work, well, there insurance just will not cover ya. all about liability my friend. if you get approved, you may still want to think about the effects of this on you-if you participate. might be just a bit too much on ya. i speak from experience, i mean getting back is awesome, but a full marathon straight up. well...........await the docs report, then ask.

Ven, taking a test to a dr that old, what did you really expect him to say? Get in with a cardiologist & let him run the appropriate tests so you can be treated properly & get on with your life. Denial with health issues will get you no where. You are now 33 yrs old & need to be taking care of your health. When we are young many times we think we are bullet proof only to find later we are not. If running marathons is your thing wonderful, but stop sticking your head in the sand, you are too old for that. I am not trying to come across as being rude or mean, but at some point you need to step up & listen to the dr for a change.

Take care & I hope once you are treated you will have many more marathons to participate in.
