HDL / LDL after stent

Ok 57 yr old male,,,had LAD stent 7 yrs ago,,prior smoker,,since have lost over 40 pounds,,,run 6.5 miles a day, bike 20 miles on off days,,,eat good....my HDL fluacuates between 100 and 121....LDL 73 to 83...Cardio Dr wants LDL under 70...
I take 40mg Simvistatin...he wants me to take 60mg,,(1-1/2 pills)...I think my high HDL negates the higher LDL...he said we could try Lipitor but it may lower the HDL too
Seems he is being over cautious....

yeah, lipitor may in combo do this. i would listen to the doc and go 60. at least for a blood cycle. 3-4months, then re-evaluate.

Every doctor has a different opinion. Taking a drug is never a good thing unless it is absolutely necessary. According to the Mayo Clinic the ratio is the important thing. Get the information and make it your decision.
