Hello I am a 30 year old male,5"11 and 180lbs and I have had a difficukt time breathing for 11 months now.One day I was eating barbaque chicken for lunch when all of a sudden my throat became dry and scratchy like a soar throat feels.A minute after that my lungs felts like they were being pushed back and it became very hard to breathe so I called 911 for dear life because I thought l was gonna die.I was told that maybe it was chest pain from working out to hard and was given antibiotics that worked for a month but the symtoms reappeared within a week.I've had many kbg's,cat scans and ex ray's done and the doctors cannot find anything wrong with me.I use to live a very athletic lifestyle but because of this I'm reduced to my bed where I cannot even work because this condition of struggling to breathe is very difficult and worsens if I work to hard.I really need help and advice on what to do about this problem.

Hello & welcome to Healing Well. By chance have you been evaluated by a gastroenterologist? I asked because of the incident eating bbq chicken. GERD can mimic so many different conditions. What about a pulmonary dr, have you seen one?

By the way, you found a very old, old thread & posted there. I wanted to let you know those members are no longer active here at HW.

Take care.

Thank you for informing me and to answer your wuestion,I have not seen a gastroenterologist yet.I have a appointment I missed because I was actually scared of the thought of someone putting a tube down my throat.I decided to make another appointment on the 22 of this month.also I have not seen a pulmonary doctor, but I definitely will after I get my results from the gastroenterologist.

Hi amorking2. I have been having stomach issues for the past month. Acid reflux, burning etc. I have an appointment with primary next week and I am sure I will be referred to a GI, and will most likely have to get an endoscopy. I am deathly afraid of anything going down my thoat such as you are but I have talked to many people at work who have had it done, and they say you are sedated and you are not aware. I have had chest pains, palps, and at times feelings of hard to breathe. It's best to get it checked with a GI because straydog is right, Gerd and even ulcers can affect so many areas in the body especially the chest, throats area. Best of luck to you.
