Hey all,

I'm a 29 yr old male, last year I had my blood pressure checked and it was high . I then got on BP meds and also started having chest pains. I've had numerous ecg, also echo, nuclear stress and all that. The cardio Doctor told me I'm just a guy with high BP, nothing wrong. Fast forward a year later I went in to talk to him again, with chest pain, he gave me another ecg, he said the symptoms sound like an acid reflux issue ( every once in awhile stabbing pain in rib cage, sometimes feels like fluttering and heartburn )

Both my parents are heavy smokers, no history of cardio issues, at the time I went in all my cholesterol levels were good, low body fat from going to the gym many hours a week, etc

Doctor wants me to have a CTA of heart tomorrow with contrast, problem is I know it's a ton of radiation, not to mention it costs a lot . My chest pain has decreased since then, I was wondering on opinion weather or not I should move forward and just get it?

Edit: I should mention I had chest pain so bad last year I went to the er, and it there ecg showed nothing either

Hello & welcome to the forum. I seriously doubt the cardiologist ordered this test just to be ordering something. Although prior testing has been negative my thoughts are have the test & depending on the results you will know whether you have something to be concerned about. Radiation in these tests exist yes, however, to my knowledge no one has died from the exposure. I have had several over the years.

Take care.

Thank you for the replay, I ended up going, although I'm worried about the radiation and possible later cancer, I do want to know for sure what the problem is.

I'll keep y'all updated when I get results back

Results came back good, wanted me to follow up with the family doctor. Still have chest pains, but at least we did nearly every possible test to rule out cardiac issues. Ill keep anyone reading updated in awhile.
