So I already suffer with severe anxiety and panic disorder. I've always had palpitations, dizziness and lightheadedness. Everything was always chalked up to be anxiety. My Dad suffered a massive heart attack a month ago, so I decided to go in for a physical. I told my doctor everything and she decided to order an echo and stress test. I passed the stress test with flying colors but my echo came back with mild left ventricular hypertrophy 1.0-1.2 She suggested I go and talk with a cardiologist. He didn't seem concerned whatsoever. Said due to my high anxiety, I have high blood pressure. Not to mention I could definitely stand to lose 15-20 lbs. I'm SO scared of this. I'm terrified that I'm just going to drop dead. I've been dizzy and lightheaded all day. I'm trying to say it's my anxiety but idk! Please help

Hi Megan, although the cardiologist did not seem concerned I can assure you if you were at risk of dropping dead you would have been told. There are several reasons people have this including people that are very athletic.

Since you suffer with anxiety & panic issues, please get that under control. This is the anxiety taking the upper hand making you think you will drop dead. Do as the dr suggested, work on getting the excess weight off, work on the anxiety to get the blood pressure down for sure & eat a healthy diet & get some exercise.

I hope you will get some help with the anxiety as that appears to be what is disrupting your life more than anything. Take care...Susie

Megan, you aren't dropping dead any time soon. I've had that for years. Got control of your anxiety, whether is breathing exercises, meditation, meds or all three. I was told it's reversible with a drop in blood pressure

Hopefully the vacation will alleviate the anxiety & stress & you can get on with living & not be in fear. Have fun & enjoy the vacation.

Thanks so much for the replies! I had a wonderful time on vacation! Almost anxiety free! We got back yesterday and was told that my mother has cancer. It's in her lympnodes and one lung for sure. They're doing more testing this week to figure out what stage. Ever since finding out, of course I'm having random chest stabs and anxiety. Now I'm freaking out about my heart again. It's never ending.
