Hello looking for some advice.

For a year now, I've been having angina/like symptoms. I get a numb/pressure feeling in the centre of my chest which often radiates to my left forearm and my left shoulder blade. It sometimes comes on at rest but is more often than not caused by exertion.

Over the last year I've had 9 ECG's, 4 blood tests, an echocardiogram and an ECG stress test, ALL of which have come back normal, my doctors are now just putting it down to anxiety, which I've never been diagnosed with nor do I believe I have.

Is heart disease still a possibility even with so many normal tests?

Thanks in advance

Hello & welcome to Healing Well. None of us are drs here, but reading about your normal testing, no, I do not for a moment think you need to worrying about heart disease. Your echo & stress test came back great & those two tests determine if there is a problem. Not sure how old you are, whether you get any exercise on a regular basis & of course eating healthy. And yes, anxiety may well be the culprit of your symptoms, this is pretty common. Although, you say you have never had problems with it, that doesn't mean it can't happen at any given time. In spite of normal testing, you are apparently not convinced its your heart. Don't waste precious time looking for something that does not exist, life is too short. You have nothing showing up on testing to warrant further invasive testing, a dr certainly would not consider it & most likely insurance would not pay for anything either. If nothing else, learn some relaxation techniques.

I can assure you, if the dr thought you had any heart issues he would have told you. I say do your happy dance & be very thankful for normal heart testing. Take care.

Have your doctors checked for muscular issues that could be responsible for the discomfort? I have had pain from both heart related issues and from muscular issues. They can be very similar.

thats kind of what I was thinking, I've even had it where I strain my a muscle in my shoulder or something doing little things, don't even realize it and i feel it down my arm. Usually you can tell its that if you press firmly on your chest or back/ shoulder blade and find tender spots.
