A little about me. I’m a 22 year old male. 2 years ago this month I first went into A&E with heart palpitations, it’s the first time I’d ever felt them, I had an ECG and bloods which were fine.
Since then, I’ve been to A&E 9 times with these palpitations, every time my ECG and bloods are fine!
I’ve also had an echocardiogram, a CT angiogram and a 24 hour monitor, all of which were reported as normal.
My Doctor has told me its anxiety, I’ve reluctantly tried a few of the medications he’s prescribed, I can’t remember the exact names but they’re antidepressants. None have helped.
Here are my symptoms, at rest, even though my resting heart beat is 55-65, I often get sudden very forceful heart beats which feel like they go up into my throat, these tend to take my breath away. When exerting myself, I get extremely dizzy, sick and it feels like my heart is fluttering, 2 years ago before all of this, I was extremely fit, did many sports and jogged etc, now I can’t even walk for 10 minutes without having to stop.
I’m just 100% convinced I have a heart condition that’s been missed and I constantly think about going to A&E, I don’t have any history of anxiety or depression and I don’t feel particularly depressed or anxious, I’ve always tried to stress that I think my symptoms cause my feelings of anxiety and not the other way around, but am I just going to have to accept that I may be wrong?
I’m only 22 and already, my life feels like it’s going downhill because of these symptoms. I can’t speak to doctors anymore because everything is just put down to this apparent anxiety
