My worst fears have come true, i have been diagnosed with peripheral artery disease at just 27. I was told it is in both legs and just mild as of now. My doctor has not told me much other than the obvious to control my blood sugars, cholesterol and lots of walking until I see a vascular surgeon which could be months. I feel like my life is over because i’m reading the life expectancy is not good at all. Also, the night before last I’ve experienced some heart symptoms..pain in right arm, shortness of breath and pain in chest when breathing in and out. I’ve been to emergency 2 times in the last few days and they have done ekg’s, chest x-ray and the troponin blood test. Ekg’s and chest x-rays came back normal. The troponin test came back negative the first day but after the night of chest pain it came back as 2.4, normal range is from 1.9-20. They tested it again 3 hours later just to be safe because it went above the 1.9 and when checked again a few hours later it was 0.9 so they said definitely no heart attack whatsoever or heart damage. But why the symptoms I asked them? They don’t know. Although it didn’t rise much after the chest pain, wouldn’t the level going from negative to 2.4 mean something was on the go during these symptoms? I’m hoping to hear from people who are also going through this or who know more about it than me. I’m so confused by it all and don’t know what to do from here. Any advice and help would be appropriated.
