Hi I am new. I am a 48 yr old female and found out about 2 months ago that I had a heart attack about 8 months ago. Needless to say I am having all kinds of feelings including depression and fear. I cry at least once a day sometimes more. I am on more medication then I ever thought I would be. I had the cauterization done and found to have a 100% blockage in the artry and my heart has sent over veins to compensate blood flow. My doctor said my heart function is about 43% which I guess is okay. He said that it might even improve some. I am having palpations and have had a 48 hr. monitor on that showed as he called it benign palpations. I get weird sensations in my chest as well and then that scares me and I get even more. Has anyone out there gone or is going through the same things. I would like to know that I am not completely a lost cause. Thanks for listening.

Welcome Carol to the HW. I have many heart problems and it is normal to have these feelings but talk to your dr and tell him how you feel. He may want to give you something to help calm your nerves, added stress doesn't help. I had 3 mi's and never knew when i had them. I'm diabetic and this is comon in diabetics i've been told. I've had heart by-pass and a stent. I also have a defibrillator. I'm going in the hospital this am for a week. I know this is all scary and in time you will adjust. You will find friends here at the HW who will become your family. Life is wonderfull and you can have a long and happy life even with heart disease. I've been fighting for my life almost 6 years now and i'll continue to fight. You will find comfort here at the HW so please continue to visit. There is a chat nite on march 8th. I hope you can attend. I don't know if i'll be out of the hospital by then but if i am i'll see you there. I took antidepressants for 3 years when i first got sick, but i don't need them now. God is my sedative now. I'll keep you in my prayers. DELTA

:-)  hi carol, glad you found this forum. it took me a long time to find it . i had 2 stents put in about a year or so ago, and it was all new and very scary, i was anxious 24/7 afraid i was going to die, like you we have all gone from no medications(i was the picture of health) to metropolol, lisinopril, plavix, rantadine, zocor, yada yada, does all this sound familiar? i also had to get on an anxiety med. tell me a little more about how you are today? i will look for your post. bye and relax as much as you can.

Hi to all .. On a beautiful day like this one it is hard not to be in good spirits. I live in Northeast Ohio and we are having a wonderfully sunny day here. I am having a good day right now. I am not experiencing any palps or weird feelings right now. I cry when I need to and then I go on I think that is the best for me right now. I have decided to take a little time off of work haven't had any since all of this has happened..even when I had my heart attack so I am taking some me time. I think it will be a couple of weeks and then go back. I will be going to a different cardolist in April .. to see about the palpations. then hopefully with a change or increase of meds I will start to feel better. Thanks for caring about me :-)

Wow Carol, You actually had sun yesterday?  It was spitting sleet here in Missouri where I live.  I am jealous now and so ready for spring.... Anyway, sometime off work to rest can help greatly.  A lot of times we just push ourselves too hard when something like this happens and expect to be able to continue back at the same routine before.  It just doesn't work that and usually our bodies let us know that in a big way.  A second opinion is also a smart idea regardless of the condition.  I hope today continues to be good for you tongue .
