Im getting a third opinion about my heart condition.Since my cardiologist told me my only option is a heart transplant, I have decided it couldnt hurt to get one more opinion. Im hoping to hear good news, that maybe another bypass surgery would fix the problem.I would be willing to go through another bypass surgery to save my life, but not a heart transplant. I know alot of people dont agree with that decision, but I have my own personal reasons for not having that kind of surgery. My appointment is May 4th, so I hope I will have good news to tell. But if there isnt anything more the Doctors can do for me I have already come to terms with that the best I can. Prayers would help alot, and I would appreciate all that I can get. :-) Thanks to everyone who has been here for me through this hard time in my life.

Wanda :) ! :) ! What I hear is very serious. You are at a place where you seem all alone, but you're not! I have had thoughts similar to yours. You are at a stage in this process that I haven't seen yet. I am ready to give up before you did. You are light years ahead of me in this sad ordeal. Yes it is very hard on many people, and you obviously are one. There are many out there with transplanted hearts. I know of an elderly Lady who is doing just fine. If I were to ever reach your point, I know that anything that I could do, just to prolong my life to give science time to make me healthy again, might be a choice that I would make.

Now to be truthful, you have every right to control your destiny as well as you can. I want that right too. I wonder how many have let themselves go rather than keep fighting this disease? In the end, I will probably endure the hospital stays and all the fun that is. People not familiar with heart disease may think we lay up in a hospital bed just lounging away. Not ! They are always cutting, needling, and blood testing us to D.
Well, I am really blessed due to you sharing your thoughts with me. They are an education for me :)

G-d Bless,

Rj

Hi Wanda,  I hope you get the answers that your looking for with your third opinion.  There is no harm what so ever in getting as many opinions as possible, you may find that one doctor that has a line on a progressive new treatment or something along those lines, hopefully.  Your decision for not wanting to have a heart transplant are certainly your own and I respect that decision.  All we can do as your friends is to be as supportive as possible.  So, my thoughts and prayers are with you as you go to your appointment...take care

Hello, Wanda. I don't post very often, but wanted to say that I will keep you in my prayers. I also don't know what I would do if I were in your position. I think it would probably help you feel like you have some power and control to get that third opinion. I think with a chronic illness like heart disease, some of us do feel like we've lost some of that (power and control). And, besides, we are told often that it's good to get a second and third opinion. Hugs, Kathy
