Is anyone here hypertensive and especially sensitive to it? When my BP goes around 145-150 range I start feeling warm and sometimes my head will hurt. Has anyone come up with a way to feel at least a LITTLE better from this problem?

dm.. I don't have hypertension, but my mom does and I care for her so I know a little about it. When hers goes up, she complains of "hot flashes" or "flushes". She doesn't get a headache per say, but complains of her ears popping or feeling "funny". She usually gets a little jittery and nervous too.
The only way she gets relief is from medication, two different ones to control it. But she's 65, and I can't remember your age. She usually gets up and walks around a while, dont' know why it helps, but seems to help her.
Hope you find your answer!!

Hi dm,  Are you on medication for this? Does it seem to help? I'd talk to the doctor about it. You might need a new medication or a second one. In the meantime, I've heard that relaxation techniques can help bring blood pressure down a little bit usually. I can bring mine down with biofeedback which is a type of meditation. However any kind should do the trick with practice. It is certaintly NOT a cure all but it might help to bring it down just a bit to stop your symptoms. ??? It is worth a shot but you'd have to practice it consistently to make a difference and it might take some time to get it mastered to the place it would do the trick. :-)   Good Luck and please talk to your doctor about it, too!

I'm 26 as of last November.  I just started feeling kind of warm tonight again and I went to check my BP (154/80).  I did some breathing excercises (in through the nose, deep breathe out the mouth) for about 5 minutes and my pressure dropped to 115/74.  That's absolutely astounding.  Now if I could only keep it that way! :)

I suffer with high blood pressure and has since i was 25. I am now 53 1/2 and my bp is hard to control. I take three different meds and yes i get the "warm" feeling a lot and sometimes the headaches. Sometimes I have sleep with the window cracked to get fresh air. I also do the deep breathing exercises, that helps. For the headache i take tyleol.

Some bp meds can cause a "rush" feeling and headaches. I know verapamil does.

Why is it people with hypertension need to take two or three pills before they even get relief. Are most hypertension meds just sugar pills or?
