There are miracles performed by God on a daily basis. I wanted to take this opportunity to share with you about my daughter Dionne. At the ages of 14 - 16 she has had 2 heart transplants in 2 years. Dionne went from a common cold to a heart transplant in a matter of 20 days. She was a healthy teen, enjoy cheerleading and dancing. The doctors at UCLA were unable to determine what caused her heart to fail. They could find no bacteria or virus, so it was left to say etiology unknown.

To make it short and simple, which no heart transplant is, Dionne experience everything imaginable. She would not be your poster child for heart transplantation, but yet regardless God is Faithful. Dionne has been hospitalized after the 1st heart transplant on 1-20-03 a total of 22 times. Various circumstances from blood sugar soaring to 700, possible stroke, seizures, and a rare disease called Linear IGA.

After so many hospitalization to prevent rejection it is custom after a visit in the hospital to have a follow up visit. Once again, the King of kings steps in. The Pediatric transplant team had forgotten about the follow us visit, but God did not. They instructed Dionne to go ahead and have her basic lab work, and to have an echocardiogram, with is customary for clinic visits. They said after that we could just go home. Well, we never went home. Dionne was admitted back into the Pediatric ICU at UCLA. Where after weeks of testing, and contacting doctors around the country, they were puzzled as to what was going on with Dionne.

Dionne suffered 35 heart attacks a day while they tried everything to stop the heart from rejecting, the doctors were baffled. Only one test would establish the results, and it was a long shot for everyone. Dionne underwent a PET scan. And it was determined after the results of the test, Dionne would need a second heart transplant.

On March 17, 2005, Dionne was placed again on the heart transplant list, and was blessed to receive a second gift of a donor heart on Resurrection Sunday, March 27, 2005.

Rarity of a Second Heart Transplant in Pediatrics for African Americans

Pediatric 2nd heart transplant is 52 Info provided by: http://www.unos.org

Since 1988 there has been 4,614 Pediatric second heart transplants in the entire U.S.

And of those 4,614 Pediatric second heart transplants there has been only 52 children who have received a 2nd heart transplant. So in 18 years since statistical data has been kept, in the United States, Dionne is included in those numbers.

I just wanted to take this time for you to get to know Dionne. She is now 17 years old now, and she has such a wonderful testimony.

Thank you for taking the time to introduce your daughter and her struggles with heart troubles to us.  I am sorry that I have had to edit certian parts of your post due to it violating forum rules and guideline # 10 of no posts of overtly religious nature.  Please before you post do review the forum rules and guidelines ~ Thank You Elisha
