Hello

I was in the hospital a few days ago. My potassium level was so low it was affecting my heart. They kept me for 2 days, said my potassium level was raised and my EKG looked normal again. Now that I am home, especially when i get up and move around, my rate rate is really fast. It's starting to scare me and think something is still wrong. Is this normal and will it get back to normal as i stay on the potassium? I'm really starting to worry

Thanks for any help

Hi Tracey,  I wanted to welcome you to healing well forum.  We are happy to have you.  I am by no means a doctor and myself am pretty new to dealing with heart issues in my life.  When I went into the hospital last August my potassium level was also very low.  I still have to take 20 meq twice a day to keep my level up.  I'm not sure what the cause of making it low and am sure for everyone is different.  In my case I have a autonomic disorder that has caused my BP and everything to become out of whack.  It depends on how fast your heart rate is getting and you also need to take into account that you just got out of the hospital.  They say that for every day that your in the hospital it takes a week to recover.  So take it easy and give your body some time to heal.  We are always here if you have questions or need anything at all.  Take care
