please help me with information - sorry forgot subject line before

I am 32 year old male that recently had ablation for AVNRT on May 19 that I was told was successful.  I have had some sinus tach and pvcs which i expected, but last night 6/7/06 I had a short svt episode that lasted about 5 seconds...stopped on its own very quickly.

please someone tell me if this means my ablation did not work or if this is just part of the healing process... please post back or feel free to email me your thoughts or experiences at

Thanks and God Bless

I am sorry but I edited out your e-mail address for your own protection.  You can go into Control Panel on the blue bar at the top of your screen and then go into Edit Profile and add your personal e-mail.  It will then show up under your username as an e-mail icon so members only will be able to message you.  Thank you - Elisha

Hi Gismatrix

I can't answer your question directly, but for what it's worth can tell you my own experience. After my first ablation I didn't have any tachycardia for 10 days, then I had a bout that ran on until it had to be stopped with Adenosine, at the A&E. So I was put back on meds. I hope you haven't had any more problems since you posted, I know how worrying it is. (Hope I haven't added to your stress!) Obviously, we all react very differently, your doctor ought to be able to give you proper info. Keep well.

Juliette

Hi gizmatrix.  I had a successful ablation almost 2 years ago for SVT (supraventricular tachycardia).  I had a few short episodes of PVC's after my ablation and it scared me too that maybe my ablation had not been a success.  However, I was told by many others who had the ablation done that it took a good 3 months for the heart to heal after the ablation and that was comforting.  Even after almost 2 years I get that ker thud feeling of my heart like it use to do before it would start racing....but it never races!  Thank goodness.  Fortunately, my doc did tell me to expect this so I don't get to upset when it happens...just that momentary thought like, Oh no, its back!  I suppose we will always have that thought huh!  Hope your ablation is a complete success!  Just hang in there a little while longer while your heart heals!  Hugs, Pat

Thanks for all of your replies... I appreciate the encouragement.  about once a week I am still having a short run of what feels like SVT that lasts anywhere 5-7 seconds.  It is not like before where it went on for hours.  I just hope that it will not deteriorate to that point again.

thanks again,

gismatrix
