I have always had normal bp until I got sick with gerd a couple of years ago. Now I go to the doc and it is 130/90 so I started checking it at home. I checked this morning and it was 116/80.  Then I got a phone call and had to be put on hold and due to the nature of the upcoming call I got anxious. I  started feeling tight in my chest and just could tell I was nervous.  So I took my bp and it was 146/80.  Later on...about 15 min after the phone call was resolved and I felt like I was calm..no more physical symptoms...I took it again and it was 126/90.

Am I just obsessing or should I call my doc?  I go for a physical in a few weeks anyway...I just don't know enough about bp to know whether or not to be concerned.  I have a lot of stress right now cause I am having trouble with my gerd and I am a caregiver to my husband and my daughter is moving away to live on her own....oh!! and I am starting a new job...which we need for me to have the money to afford to have gerd (only half kidding)

Thanks for any feedback.

I don't know your medical history, and you must not be young, if your daughter is moving out :)

That said, years ago the docs thought that stress or anxiety would not raise your BP. Now they know that it can.

Your diastolic pressure is a tad high. Your systolic was a tad high when it was 146. The tight feeling in your chest is not good. That started happening to me about 5 years before I had a heart attack. The cardiologist assured me that I was fine, back then....

Why are you having soooo much trouble with GERD? There are very powerful medicines for this condition!!!! Have you had an endoscopic analysis? I have had GERD and ulcers, but no more since I started a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) (Prilosec, Nexium etc.)
