In the past year or so, I have heard of a couple of pacemaker recalls confused   I don't know whether all have been made by Guidant, or not. I saw a commercial on tv last night for a law firm that is suing Guidant. It is probably a class action lawsuit.

Elisha, I know that that is the maker of your tinker pacer, but I am also sure that your doctor would have notified you, if yours was faulty. It is very easy to get information on these faulty pacemakers. Model #, etc. If you want me to search anything for you, I would be glad to. I'll bet you know the model numbers of the recalled ones.

I have been catching up on some older threads. I noticed where you had gained some weight. The medicine Lyrica can cause weight gain, I read. My heart meds and probably neurontin cause weight gain in myself. That is in addition to edema. I am talking "gettin fatter here", lol. I am about 25 lbs overweight and am starting to try to lose as much as I can.

Happy Father's day to all the dads.

Thank you RJ,  I have seen those commercials too.  Guidant has a place on their website that patients can go in and enter in their id#'s from the pacers to see if there are any reported problems or recalls.  As yet mine isn't listed, I have one of the brand new ones that came off the line in August of 2005.  Guidant says that they will send out info if there is a suspected problem, but my cardiologist said that he usually gets the data and his office staff is in charge of cross checking it to his patients.  It is always better to be safe...

Hello Els and Aldo. I have a ICD pacemaker/defib. It is made by Medtronic, they too are being recalled and mine is one of them. The battery is malfunctioning. So far my battery is working. I have a large magnet and i check it daily, if its working i will hear a long beeping sound. The ones that are recalled have serial numbers and you can look online and see if yours is one that maybe a problem. Guident and Medtronic have several kinds that they have recalled.I was notified by Medtronic and my doctor of the problems it might cause. I hope this helps. DELTA

Delta, I hope that when you feel better that you can get a NEW battery!!!!! So sorry to hear your model has faulty batteries. Are they just replacing the batteries, or the entire device?
