Hello,
Lately whenever im laying in bed, and twist n my side (like typing on a laptop or grabbing for something) An inch to the left of my sternum, i feel like building pressure. There isnt pain when this happens, but its a slow pressure that builds and builds. It is always focuses right next to my heart, and is relieved when i move back to a normal position, or when i massage the area. This weird feeling also happens when im hunched over sitting down, or laying down on an incline on my back. During the nights, i get palpitations, my heart "flutters" and i get a knot in my stomach. Sometimes my breathign feels a little heavy, and when i wake up in the morning, its usually reallly late and my lungs feel like htye havent gotten good air thruout the night. Ive read things about stenosis, about the vavle next to your heart being blocked, i think thast where my pressure is....so im a little scared. Could this just be stress? I worked a 10 hour day yesterday, and the day before, and ive never felt better! But today i had no work and pretty much lounged around and this weird feeling and palpitations came back.

Also, today was a really bad bout of hypotension. Whenever i stood up, id have to wait a second for my blood to flow back to normal so i wont pass out. And once when i took a drink of water, my heart took one giant beat before going back to normal. For the record, I am 17 and a fairly skinny build

Any help appreciated

Hi popsandthefamily,

The symptoms you are describing do sound like palpitations, and all the feelings you are getting could be related to this. Palpitations are quite common and can have a lot of benign causes, but you should definitely get it checked out by your doctor for your own peace of mind. Describe the symptoms just as you wrote them above.

Many people don't even know that they have palpitations. If we become aware of them, it's often when we are relaxing with little to do. When we're rushing around a bit, we're so involved in what we're doing that the palpitations go unnoticed.

As for researching this stuff, don't do too much of it at this stage as it can be a bit unnerving when you don't really have a diagnosis. Feelings of worry or panic on their own can cause palpitations, so better to go to the professionals where they can give you a thorough check-up.

Good luck and let us know your results.

Chris

Could be anxiety/stress... do the palpitation quickly go? Try not to think about them, you do that and you usually end up having one. Are you underweight? are you dieting?
