Ok, I know this sounds stupid but..... I had and Echo today because I've been having heart palpitations. The tech did the test and I have to schedule a seperate appt w/ the dr. to get the results. After the tech left the room I peeked at the computer moniter on the echo machine. It had all kinds of measurements on it and toward the bottom, something said 41.6%. I had been reading about
echos and how they measure your EF. Could this number that I saw on the bottom that said 41.6% be my EF, or is it likely something else? I'm probably psyching myself out for nothing, but it's been driving me nuts ever since I left.

It stands for ejection fraction which is a measure of the heart's efficiency. I am so sick of these palpitations making me wacky and paranoid. In addition to the echo, they put me on the 24 hr moniter today and I haven't had one! These things have been driving me batty for months and I finally get the test and I am not having any! I have done everything that usually brings them on and nothing! UGH I am soooo frustrated.

i had the same.."problem" yrs ago----no irregular beats while wearing holter---a few yrs ago--my cardio had me wear an...EVENT MONITOR".....size of a small beeper---stays on you a week or two---after a few "good days"...my irregular beats cropped up---you just hit the red button...& it "captures" them . You call an 800 phone #---a tech picks up--you give them your name--then take of the small monitor--& hit.."play"...& it plays back the run of irregular beats...& the tech then faxes it to your cardiologist--it's a GREAT thing! The monitor holds up to 3 or 4 separate "events"...so--if you're out shopping--& you get 2 or 3 events---it holds them--once they are "played back" over the phone--it's "cleared"--a great technology!
