Hello everyone. Im new to this site. I was wondering if anyone could help me with my questions..Im going to tell you whats been happening to me first.....

I am 25 years old, female, symptoms started 1 year ago. All started with my vision. I started seeing sparkles. At first only in bright lights, millions of them shooting around very fast. Swirly things sometimes. Sometimes silvery or white. Then I started noticing them on plain backgrounds like on walls. I also had periodic lightheadedness/dizziness. I went to my doctor and she order cat scan, mri, and eeg. My cat scan and mri were normal. Eeg showed abnormal activity. So she referred me to a neurologist who said seizure disorder but no seizure focus, and not typical seizures (since the vision thing was happening all day long and you can't have a seizure all day) Well anyways, i went for 6 opinions after that and all other neurologists say "interesting eeg, but not seizures.." And thats all they had to say. Some say its migraines but others say no because you can't have a migraine all day. Others say anxiety (I don't believe anxiety causes you to see these things)

8 months ago (in addition to the sparkles and lightheadedness) I developed what the doctors call Palinopsia. I see trails, afterimages, light sensitivity, lots of floaters, still the sparkles and squiggly white lines. So I went back to the neurologist. He said, everyone has been looking at your brain, has anyone looked at your heart. The answer was no so they ran some tests which showed right to left shunt. (which apparently can cause migraine with aura). Does anyone know what this is and if this could be causing all of my problems???

Hi Neurogurl, I can’t say I know what is going on...it sounds very complicated for sure.  I was wondering if you have seen an Ophthalmologist to look at your optic nerves and see perhaps if there is something going on there?  I have MS and have to see one every 6 months to have my optic nerves checked due to seeing strange lights, and bright strings across my vision...

Hi, yes i have seen quite a few ophthamologists..even a neuroopthamologist. They all say my optic nerves are perfect and that my eyes are healthy. They say its something originating from my brain. I've had a couple of doctors say that it sounded like ms except my brain mri is normal. And I don't have any of the other ms symptoms. What exactly do you mean by strange lights?
