It was about 4 am when I finally woke because I couldnt take the pain anymore...I got out of bed..and then realized how bad it really was

I was having a feeling from just beneath my breast / top of my ribs ...to around my back like a SQUEEZING pain..like a band at times ...it was horrible...I have felt this pain in my back many times..but this was different because it was in the front as well...and it didnt let up

finally at 5 I woke my husband to ask what to do ...he gave me an asprin...and some tums...

it took about another 1 1/2 hours before it went from a 10 in pain to a 6-7 and I was finally able to get back into bed and get about another hours sleep ...somewhat

it is now 10:30 am and I have taken an ibruprophen and another asprin...I have eaten breakfast ..the pain is not going away ...althought on the scale its about a 4-5 ...

BUT now I am experiencing some burning as well ....like from the food maybe ? so...could this all be gastro related and not really my heart...it has taken me for a loop and its Christmas weekend...I feel terrible and dont want to do anything ...

any advice would be really helpful...like what to look for ...or what this could be ...

thanks

oh...I am a 50 y/o woman sad

My sister cannot take a lot of iron even though she's anemic ... causes gastric problems. Do you have any previous heart problems or high cholesterol. I noticed that you said you have high BP. If it's your ht, tums, etc won't decrease the pain. HOWEVER, women have different signs of ht problems than a lot of men .... pain between shoulder blades, etc. I have a friend w/Crohns disease and he has to watch what he eats or it bites him back. If you go to the ER, they will probably give you what is called a GI cocktail ... it gets rid of a lot of GI problems within a few minutes. At least you will know if it's heart related or GI problems. What is cervical DDD? I had to have a spinal fusion of the C5-C6 disk. It caused the left arm to lose some strength and had pain between shoulder blades. After surgery, I regained some strength (not much though due to neuro problem) and the pain stopped until I started having heart problems again. Your family hx has a lot to do w/heart also. Any hx of high cholesterol or coronary artery disease?

Good luck & hope you feel better so you can enjoy the holidays!

If you do have acid reflux, I would stay away from NSAID medication. I think that is what caused my acid reflux and no doctor gave me a GI cocktail when I to the ER with chest pains.
