I don't know if it is bypass surgery or any surgery, but my brother in law just had bypass surgery a few weeks ago. Now he is having really strange tastes and smells. Nothing tastes right and he complains about everything smelling strong or weird. Does anyone have info about what causes this or when it goes away?

Thanks :-)

I would talk to the doctor because I don't think that is normal after bypass....

It's a sensory thing.   I will likely go away, but be sure to talk about it next time you see the your cardio dr.  Whatever Dr, you see first.  For me, I have lost sense of smell, too.   They continue to shake their head at me.  I could mention the drugs he is using?   That certainly plays a strong part of taste and smell.
