hey guys, my doctor gave me a prescription for Atenelol. Anyone on that. I have a fast heart rate. But low blood pressure. Does anyone know if this drug will lower my blood pressure even more?? I heard this drug helps lower heart rate and bloodpressure. Although i need help with heart rate, my BP is fine, sort of low. Will it lower it even more?

Anyone else have a fast heart rate? At the hospital it was up to almost 200 and the doctor said i had sinus tachychardia???????

:-)  hi nuero, i was looking for you last nite on the chat, now i see why you were not there.  my sister has been on atenolol for 2 years now with fast heart raate and high bp #s  she is doing well on 50mg and likes it fine, the only side effect is a few new pounds. it has been around a long time and is relatively safe.

Neurogurl,
My cardiologist was going to put me on a beta blocker, I don't know if that is what atenenol is but, because my heart was also beating too fast. But she told me if she did I would probably drop to the floor because my blood pressure is always too low. Like around...93/62. Hope that helps..Boy seems like we have alot of the same issues..hmmmn

Hi Lori..thanks for responding. Ya, my blood pressure runs low and I get episodic fast heart rate. Atenolol seems to be working good so far. But im not crazy about some of these drugs u know?!?  So do they know why you have low blood pressure?

Nuerogurl,
No they don't know why it's low. But I think it's been like that my whole life. Every time I would have a baby or just a simple procedure they always would keep me longer. Finally I asked why and they said because my BP was too low. I say it's always low. They would stand me up and I don't get dizzy, then I get to go home. If you are doing ok on the Atenenol that's great. I do take something for anxieties but doesn't seem to help with the palps. I'm not crazy about the drugs either. Infact I have been getting rid of as many as I can. I was very sick for awhile and didn't have a choice but I feel much better now so I am taking action. And feel so much better in doing so. ttyl,
Lori

Sorry for the late response,
I have seven children. My first borns were identical twin girls, then three more girls and two boys. I am 45. My twins made me a grandma at the age of 35. I have 8 grandchildren. 4 boys and 4 girls. I have officially raised all my kids as of December 5th/06. What a great feeling. It was tough rasing that many kids. Not too just feed them but they all have different personalities. Each and every one had a different need. One needed more love then the other, I mean physically...I have learned alot about raising kids that's for sure. But they are such a blessing to have. Holidays is overwelming. And to see how close they are to each other is a great feeling. I don't blame you for being scared. But I can understand you wanting them too. Maybe some day things will just happen for you. There are really blessings that do happen everyday. Hang in there..Please take care,
Lori
