HI guys..could someone tell me how a doctor is able to find that an artery is blocked. I noticed in another chat there was a girl who was having problems, shortness of breath etc. Finally they found 90% blockage. Do you know how this is found, like what test is performed. An ekg? or Echo?

I'm fairly certain that an angiogram is the gold standard for finding a blocked artery.  I have a 100% blocked RCA - and it was found using the new 64 slice coronary angiogram.  I don't believe that an EKG or a echo will tell if an artery is blocked.

Thanks Tomah, what were your symptoms with the blocked artery?

I have/had no symptoms.  No shortness of breath, no angina - do get PVC's and PAC - but I have gotten those for 10+ years.  I had the test because I tend to have heart anxiety, and my husband had had a heart attack - plus I don't know my biological father's medical history.  Right now they are doing nothing because my heart developed collaterals on it's own, and I am symptom free.
