Hi, I've just been told that my heart is slightly weak and I also have tachycardia. Normal rates about 110-125 bpm. I am only 30 yrs old. I also have crohn's disease. Anyone know if cardio exercise will strengthen my heart, even though I have fast heart rate?

thanks,

Roni

Hi Roni! I also have crohns along w/cardiomyothapy & I'm 34.I think that excercise has been beneficial to me over the past few years.Have you talked w/your doc about starting an excercise plan?My doc recommended low impact & start out slow.I don't do cardio, but instead I walk & hike,& use my gazelle(not as much as I should). You are going to want to keep a close eye on your heart rate & if you start wearing down, you should stop,& by all means I think that you should ask your doc first. I just read something about tachycardia could be triggered by high stress, fevers,or infection. How are you doing w/the crohns? Are you flaring right now?Take care & good luck! -Jennifer

I've petty much been flaring non-stop since Jan. 1998. I've had slower times with less symptoms, but never been in remission. Honestly, when I hear about ppl with CD who go months or even years with little or no CD symptoms, I'm totally amazed. I'm costantly being treated for CD, sometimes with pred, sometimes with other drugs. Nothing puts this DD is remission so far. Not even a resection I had a couple of years ago. The CD came back immediately. It truly sucks, and I feel pretty stressed about it sometimes, which I'm sure doesn't help my health. I've recently started relaxation massages. In regards to my heart, I see the cardiologist again next week and I hope he has some answers on how I can keep this heart thing from getting worse and even making it stronger.
