My husband is having extremely high blood pressure while laying down (215/142) but it is almost normal when he stands up (125/80).  He does have high blood pressure due to kidney failure and is on medication for it.  Two weeks ago he had surgery to have a temporary catheter put in for dialysis.  I was thinking maybe the catheter is causing his arteries to narrow causing his blood pressure to rise while laying.  I am so lost does anyone know what this might be??

Hi Bmspossum, I am sorry about your husband's problems.  I havent heard of a catheter causing this problem.  I would look into some of the meds he is taking as more often than not medications are the reason.

Certainly keep an eye on that blood pressure and let his doc's know if it continues to be that high.  That is a huge stroke risk when BP's get up into that range.

Please do continue to post and let us know how he is doing
