Hi:

I have been very ill for the past few months.  I went to a private cardio.  Echo and BNP were performed.  The results showed that I was in heart failure.  Then, I was referred to a Heart Failure Clinic here in the UK on the NHS.  The tests were repeated two months after the previous tests.  I was told the echo showed normal function and the BNP was 33.  There are no follow-up clinic visits.

I am amazed at this doctor's pretence when she says she has never seen anything like this.  As far as I know, echo and BNP fluctuates.  If you find out the cause, and I am sure mine is due to an infection, I would not keep being in and out of heart failure.I also know of someone personally who for years went throught the same sort of thing.  And now finally has developed chronic heart failure.  The cause was never investigated!!!

No meds, no follow up clinic appointments, oh yeah, until I next go in heart failure I suppose.\\
Advice appreciated.

Hi daizy, I dont know much about the National Health Care System in the UK but if your able too I would get another opinion on this.  The tests that you mentioned do vary so I am surprised that your cardiologist didnt do further testing like an Stress test or even Cardiac Cath to see if indeed these results were correct.

I would definitely follow up on it with another doc if you can.  It is apparent that you still have questions that were not answered by anyone.

Please do keep posting and let us know how things go for you...take care
