I have had an increase of PVCs and PACs lately. They even caught a burst on atrial fibrillation on an event monitor last month. I have an appointment with my cardio on Sept. 26th. I am currently on Toprol XL (50mg), but it doesn't seem to be working anymore. I have been reading about acebutolol for PVCs, and from what I've read - it really seems to reduce PVCs in most people. Is anyone on it, and how has it affected your arrythmias?

Tomah,

Toprol XL is not an anti-arrythmic drug although it does have some anti-arrythmic properties. I take 150mg of toprol along with lots of other meds. The only thing that stopped my VT and SVT was Amiodarone. My new EP doctor took me off the Amiodarone because he felt it was too dangerous and was causing some other problems.

All I know is that while I was on it I didn't have very many arrythmias. I have been on Toprol (up to 200mg) since February and am taking it to reduce my heart rate and pressure even more. Current heart rate of 42 and BP of 80/50. It hasn't done much for arrythmias though.
