Hi all,

The past 4 days I have been having these fluttering sensations in my chest. I figured it could be just anxiety related since I suffered with anxiety disorder in the past. Ok...no biggy. I will just deal with this until it passes. Anyway...4 days later the fluttering is getting worse and I seem to be obsessing over them. Finally I decided to go to my family doc and he listens to my heart and says "I hear what you mean...lets hook you up to an Monitor. Anyway....it shows up that my heart is getting an extra beat every 3rd and 4th normal beat.

Whats the deal man? Am I doomed or will this eventually be no big deal? Im a bit worried, so any help is much appreciated

Hey Mike,

I know how annoying those PVCs can be.  How long were you monitored for in the office?  Was it a regular EKG?  Sometimes it helps to get a Holter monitor that you wear for 24 hours to try to "catch" the PVCs in action.  Usually, in the absence of other symptoms, PVCs are not worrisome in most people, just annoying.  If it's super super annoying you can ask your doc about getting a beta-blocker for the days when it doesn't seem to let up.  Hope you're starting to feel better soon...

Hello Milke

I believe your physician should have explained to you the PVCs and the relevance of this irregular heart rhythm.

Many people have these irregular beats and are not aware of them.

My best advice is to listen to what your physician said at your appointment.

Take Care.

Hi Mike!      I know what you are going through. They are no fun! These things usually cycle. They'll be bad for awhile-like days or weeks or even months. Then they just settle down and might even disappear for awhile-days, weeks or even months or more. Then they start up again! Ugh!!!!! For me, it is really hard for me once they start up again after being gone for a long time. I have to keep reminding myself that they will not harm me and are not serious. I have to talk myself out of going to my doctor or the ER. Don't give up!. Use relaxation and positive self-talk. Above all try not to stress or worry. That is a sure fire way of getting even more. Yes, I know. Easier to say than do! Just keep working on it. Stay busy and distracted. You might find that all of a sudden you don't notice them anymore and then they are gone. OH, HAPPY DAY!!
