I have consistent high blood pressure every night before sleeping.. its goes up to 140's/90's pulse is just above 100. And sometimes I feel a little stinging pain on my chest. I went to an emergency room and had an xray and that test where they put "wires" on your body and its attached to a machine that sounds like a fax machine. Doctor said its fine but im worried. At daytime, my blood pressure is fine but just before I sleep, it shoots up.

:-)  hi  just a thought   are you watching tv then jumping in bed?  you should try taking one hour to get relaxed, no television just lay ther and take deep breaths, ther are some great meditaition cds out there that will relax you. that pulse of 100 is rather odd, but my sisters runs high also.  just try the relaxing for half hour then take your bp again.  you must really relax,  not just lay still.  free up your mind. let us know if this works or if you have already tried it.  pardon, my asking but do you excersize? are your over weight?

I havent been excercising that much anymore because i am in quite a bit of pain all day every day. I do what i can maybe like 10-20 minutes walk everyday. I am not overweight. I am only 140 lbs. I watch what i eat. My parents have high blood pressure too so im thinking this was passed on to me.

High blood pressure can be passed down from family.  Watching your diet, avoiding salt, caffeine and getting enough exercise will help some.  However, if your BP is getting that high that often then you need to consult your physician regarding this as you may need medication intervention to control it.

Do you check your BP everyday?   Most of us don't even think about it unless we had previous conditions.   Was wondering about your age more then your weight, although weight makes a diff.  Perhaps because of a family history, you are more aware of it.  Of course, have it checked out to rule any other problem causing this jump.  All the best.

One of the culprits of high blood pressure could be from a food allergy. I had a blood test about 7 months ago for food allergies and found I was allergic to cabbage, celery, brocholi along with some fruits..When I elimintated those foods from my diet, my blood pressure went to normal.
