hi has anyone had some of them rare side effects ???? as i have been taking 2 x 30ml ppi,s daily and i have had for the past 6 weeks really bad photophobia which is senstivity to light meaning if there is bright lights i turn them off and i stay in on a night, cause when driving at night the car lights hurt my eyes. and i start to feel sick and get a banging head, at 1st i though it might be a eye problem as i had a few of them the past 6 months, put i have had all them problems solved and checked the other day, put its strange as the eye doctor says my eyes are fine. but i read that there is a 1% to 3% of them rare side affects from taking ppi,s in high doses you can get photophobia and axiety and the past 6 weeks i had both really bad. and i,m in catch 22 cause i need the tablets for the acid.... eyes

bok...I would STRONGLY suggest that you talk to your doc about this. They suggest if you think you are having the rare side effects to contact them, and that is just what I would do.

What you are feeling could very well be coming from a whole different source, but better to be safe than sorry.

I'd call your doctor first thing in the morning.

Please, let me know how you are doing!

Wishing you all the best, always.

Bokbok I am having the same problem too. Its like even the smallest light source cause extreme glare at night. I too need the PPI to for my GERD, but I had to stop taking them because of the light sensitivity that they cause. I have been off them for 7 days now and not doing well. Because of this my GI doctor said that I have to do fundo surgery to fix my problem. My doctor tried all the PPI's and H2 blockers but they all cause light sensitivity for me. Good luck Bokbok, and keep us posted on your out come.

hi outllaw thanks for letting me know as i went to the doctors and he thinks i,m crackers, but like i said i never had this problem 2 months ago then all of sudden bright lights make hurt my eyes, then i get migriane type headache then i start to fell sick. so now i avoid all bright lights and stay in at night. but as i,m on high doses and it does state photophobia as a side effect is 1%TO 3% off having it but i olso lost over 12ibs in weight, plus i noticed i,m my axiety is very bad which i never been that bad before on olso a lot of stomach pains and cramps. plus the i had this neck pain that keeps coming through the day. which i think this all to do taking ppi,s as i been on them for 2 years. i though it was from the eye problems i had the past few months so i went back to the eye doctors last and they checked everything and he any of the condition,s that would cause photophobia you dont have. all these problems i am having its list on the rare side effects of taking ppi,s. which olso ties in the past 3 months i been on high doses everyday cause i been having that acid taste in my mouth all the time. but the acid in mouth has settled strangley. i stop drinking caffine and chocolate.

Hey bok...cutting out caffeine and chocolate is a great idea!

Again, I just want to suggest sharing what you are feeling with your doctor. Please, let us know the outcome!
