I've suffered with GERD for over 10 years.
Started off with 15mg Lansoprazole daily and now take 30mg daily.
Had an endoscopy about 8yrs ago which showed a floppy valve leading to my stomach which is allowing the acid up.
Over the past year i have had a huge amount of coughs and hourseness.
This recent bout has lasted around 6wks and my voice is quite bad now and have a sore throat. I am still getting heartburn, mainly at night but not severe, i usually take a rennie and am ok.
After visiting the docs she said it could be my GERD and has suggested uping the dose to 30mg twice a day.
In your opinion do you think it is GERD related?
Many Thanks

HEllo there yorkshirecath...and welcome to healingwell. I am glad you have found us, as this is a great place for information and support!

Given this is only my opinion, I am going to voice it. Yes, this could absolutely be your GERD acting up. All the things you are describing are certainly GERD symptoms, and I think that upping your dosage should help you. DO that for a while, and see what the outcome. If it works, great, if not, go back and figure out what the heck is going on. I do though have a feeling it's going to work.

Please keep us posted as to how you are feeling.

Once again, welcome aboard...and I do hope you stick with us!

Yes, this can can be related. Which kind of dr are you seeing? Are they a specialist? The heatburn at night concerns me. Are you having any late meals? My esophageal sphinter was weak, which was why I had it SO bad at night. GOOD LUCK!
