I have had a burning pain by my right shoulderblade for over a month and half now. It seems to show up an hour or two after meals, especially heartburn inducing ones. The thing is, I almost never have intense heartburn. I was worried it was esophogeal cancer for a while, then I rationalized that I never feel anything going down, it's only a while after the meals I feel this burning. I have had a 2 chest x-rays, a CT scan, and 2 blood tests but have found nothing. Sometimes I can intensify the sensation by taking in a deep breath. Has anyone with GERD experienced similar symptoms?

Have you been to a GI specialist? If you feel it after meals, it definitely could be GERD. I don't have any heartburn with my GERD. Have you tried an over the counter heartburn remedy? Try reading our thread on minimiznig GERD symptoms and see if anything helps. Good luck.

I believe this is refered pain. Either way, see a GI specialist! Also try some otc medication for GERD. DO you have it will all meals? Large meals, snacks, drinks etc? Do you only eat Large meals?

Hello there annadaeus...and welcome to healingwell. I am happy you have found us. This is a great place to get the information and support you need.

I see you have been to a doctor about your pain, and that is great that you are taking control of your problem. My question to you is has your doctor suggested you see a GI doctor? If not, I would ask him for a reccomendation, as what you are describing could very well be GERD, or it could be something to do with your gallbladder, along with a number of other things that have to do with your stomach.

Please see about getting in with a GI. And, do stick with us. Keep us updated on your condition, and feel free to ask questions!

Wishing you the best!

Hi ammadaeus,

I get a pain under my arm and often down into my arm and hand when my Stomach pain is at it's worst. I believe it is related to the esphogus, be it swelling, spasms or food coming back up. I also feel slightly short of breath or "restricted" breathing when I have these pains.
