Okay - I'm 3 weeks post op of full nissen fundoplication. I can eat pretty much anything...as in it goes down just fine and I can burp. However, I keep having episodes of nausea. Sometimes it starts when I wake up (no I'm not pregnant) and lasts all day no matter what I eat or if I stick with liquids all day. Sometimes it happens after I eat something even though I'm very careful with my portion sizes. I'm not quite sure why this keeps happening, it doesn't seem to matter if I stick to a special easy to digest diet or not. It also almost seems to happen every 3 or 4 days.

Anyone else having troubles with this? Did it go away after a while?? It wouldn't be so bad if the anti nausea medication didn't make me tired and I could fully function on it.

Not me. I'm 4 weeks and though I've had nausea all day, it was due to me getting some food stuck and then struggling to swallow/clear the obstruction. Today was only the 3rd time I've take the anti-nausea meds. I'm still having trouble swallowing solids though. Doc said another month and we may go in and streeeetch-er out a bit.

Doghouse:  Nausea is part of this surgery and yes, I had it non-stop for about 4-5 weeks.  I took the nausea medication like it was candy everyday.  Yes, it did make me a little drowsy but luckily I wasn't working and still not working.  Even at 4 months post op, I still have to occasionally take a pill.  Sometimes, I will wake up with a sour stomach or the nausea will just strike out of no where during the day and do take a pill.  I think it has gotten better but it has taken time.  The problem I am having now is this gas/bloating syndrome which also goes with this surgery.  The gastro doctor told me it will get better eventually and gave me a prescription for Reglan 5 mg.  I am scared to take the Reglan since I have read some horror stories about it but if I remember correctly, I think they gave it to me in the hospital in the iv.  I haven't taken it yet but am taking Gas x and it does help a little.  I think the key here is patience but it is hard and I myself want a quick fix.  I am still dealing with this chest pain that doesn't go away either.  Yesterday, I lifted maybe 3-4 grocery bags nothing really heavy but afterwards, I had lots of chest pain.  I hope this eventually goes away....Barbara....

Yep. I had Reglan about 6 months ago. It turned me into a crazyman... From what I've heard, Reglan crosses the blood/brain barrier. It definately made me feel not myself. Almost like a low level constant rage/panic. This was only after 2 days! I stopped taking it and within 6 hours I was back to feeling normal. I'll never take it again. The ondansetron is way way better, and hasnt given me any side effects.

I've taken reglan before with no problems. Well, occasionally it would just make me tired. I took it at night and then during the day if I was having reflux or felt like food was sitting in my stomach or was super bloated. I think the most I took was 5mg maybe twice a day, any more than that and I was too tired but it did help me. I've heard some people take it 4 times a day.
