Hi, new on the site. I'm a 31 year old white male.

Around 40 days ago I went to the clinic with chest pain and had upper CT scan, chest X ray,and EKG. every thing looked good. Doc. put me on 20mg Generic Prilosec which I only took for 15 days because I thought I was having some side effects which really could have been anxiety related.(I'm now on Lexapro for that)

I have pain in the chest that changes. Sometimes it feels like it comes from under my collar bone down to the peck area. Sometimes it will be between my pecks. Sometimes it's there when I take a breath in and leaves when I breath out. A few times it felt like I was stabbed with a knife and someone was twisting it in a circle. Sometimes I think it's my lungs and it kinda feels like if you ran hard in very cold weather and it made me cough but it's a dry cough.  It can happen any time of day or night. I've  had heart burn before, that felt like burning in my esophagus but this is not like that.
also I have had a few heart palpitations and some fluttery feelings in my chest.

I've been taking some Tums 1000 and it doesn't seem to help.

Does this sound like GERD?

Was I not on the Prilosec long enough to see results?

bebrave, yeah a lot of what you went through sounds like it. Especially the scans and EKG, I went through all the same thing; though no Prilosec. I'm not even sure what that is?

The chest pain can come and go. Sometimes it's just mild, other times it'll keep you up all night. Interestingly I found, if you find the same, exercise can actually be soothing!

The key to finding out if it's GERD is get an Endoscopy done. After all the tests I had, seeing all manner of specialists, the Endoscopy revealed it all. Not even blood tests revealed it. And it's a totally stress free / non intrusive procedure. And you get to wake up in happy-high-drug land :)
