I'm so worried about my esopageal spasm...i'm getting a Barium Swallow test this week (Wed)---

I know they make you drink that white, chalky barium--then take a series of X Rays.    How long does the entire test take---& the barium doesn't taste that bad , does it?  eyes

Please--i do hope someone.....hopefully more---gets back. :-)
I'm so worried about results of test (i;m a hypochondriac....worry about esophageal cancer....wife always says i get "carried away")-- sad
My Gastro Dr. seems to feel...it's just the "esophageal spasm" causing discomfort---& is GERD related.   I've been taking "PROTONIX"  for 3 yrs now......& when i get the "spasm" (as i previously described it as swallowing a "ping pong" ball.....& it moves up & down....the esophagus.      The Dr. gave me NULEV to put under my tongue when i get the spasm......it's an "anti cholinergic"...... med....that stops the spasm within a minute or two------

I just really need some reassurance......Not so much about the test (I WOULD like to know how long it lasts)---but, mostly--from others...who have had this "esophageal spasm"...& pain...& who WORRY like me! --This worry is NOT good! nono        --Thanks---Robert

I've had this test, and as someone who experiences great discomfort from GERD, I can tell you this test is not bad. The taste of the stuff isn't bad. The hardest part is to swallow the amount the dr. directs you to, but I have swallowing issues. It's a good test to tell if there is something not functioning correctly and also will show reflux if it's there.
