Hi crew,

I have both of the above, though my more persistent symptoms are chest pains - the 'feels like a heart attack' kind of pain, and not relux so much / rarely. I've been told this is mostly due to the hernia, and very briefly it was explained the chest pains are from the same "nerve group" around the oesophagus being closely related to the hearts nerve group.

Is this what other people out there have been told?
Has anyone heard anything different?

I'm seeing my GP again this week for a follow-up and going to ask her then, though I'm curious what you all on here have to say about it.

Hello AstroADF, and welcome aboard to healingwell. I hope you are finding the information and support you need here. Please do stick with us, as this is a wonderful site!

I do want to apologize for my delay in getting to you. I have been away. I hope you are still with us!!!

I am wondering what you have had checked when it comes to the chest pains you are having. Chest pains can come from a number of different reasons, and yes, the hernia could be causing the pains you are having.

I want to encourage you to have your heart checked, if you haven't already...because the heart is a serious organ, and not one you want to mess with.

Please do stick with us, and let us know what your GP has to say.

Wishing you the best!

Hello Astro....
Yes, what you have sure sounds like gerd/hiatal hernia. I had both and yes, the pain can feel as if you were having heart problems. I am so sorry you are going through this, it's NOT fun. My suggestion is to also get in to see a GI specialist. I had both a large HH and Gerd, had the surgery about 10 wks ago, and now and no problems. Most peoples problems can be resolved by medication alone if the hernia isn't too big. GOOD luck! This is a WONDERFUL SITE! The people here are very nice and very informative.....
