Just wondering, as I read over the posts, and notice that people are unhappy with their diagnosis (totally understandable)  I am too, and then they are unhappy with the meds that they are given. I don't see anyone saying that the meds have helped cure them or make them better and stay better.

It's like. once you got it, it never goes away.  Why aren't things being cured anymore?

I am sorry, but I have so many different things wrong with me, and none are being cured, just controlled with meds, and I now have this problem too. sad

It all makes me very very sad.

I think it is hard to really answer this one.  I had the lap nissen in Oct of 07 and the surgeon told me that if it weren't for the PPI's like Nexium and so on they would definately perform more nissens.  He thought the medication was quite effective.  Gerd can really make one miserable because of all the different symptoms it causes, ie- inablity to swallow, chest pain, nausea, acid aspiration in the lungs and so on..... It also seems so many people now suffer from Gerd when perhaps, 15-20 years ago one never even heard of gerd or acid reflux.  It does make you wonder when medication like Nexium is one of the most prescribed medications out there and one of the most profitable for Astra Zenica.....Also, doctors are very quick to write a prescription for PPI's but these prescriptions only help with symtoms but don't really address the actual problem, for example if there is a hiatal hernia present or malfunctioning LES.  Again, I think this one is a tough one to answer.........Barbara...

I could'nt help it .
I had to reply to this . I to have HH and gerd just found out on 3d of april. I also have outher medical problems . But i have to say sometimes the cure is worse then the problem that ill's you . One of those things either way no line to walk on , balance is all there is . But thats with everything in life is'nt it?. If you were a healthy person ,had alot money and did'nt have to realy want or ask for anything. Still somthing in our lives .(us people) there is always somthing that makes us unhappy . Its the times that we laugh somtimes we dont stop and say you know . That was fuuny , or that was nice . It passes by like when you lay down to sleep at night . But when we hurt , somthing comes on that such a fright health wise . Its there ! in our face . It cant hide , or lie , cheat or steal . Only then at times sad to say , is it becomes real . but did we laugh yesterday ? ..hope this makes sence . And no one takes a fence ..god bless all :)
My two cents hope no one takes afence :)

hi folks, just joing the site for the very first time.I am a Nigerian and got Diagnosed of GERD december 2007.
In all the time i have been told that most times when things like this happens its just a way our body telling us its time to give it some attention.I have also let to go back to nature and God in looking for a cure.I tell you its the best option.I also had Nausea which really was bad.My heartburn has disappered although the nausea still comes once in a while its better.I have not given up my search for a natural cure.I am going to be trying out swedish bitters tomorrow.

I have had GERD for almost two years, but the past month my acid reflux has been much better. The only thing I changed in my diet is not eating oatmeal in the morning, instead having cereal with acidophilus milk. I only take anacids or sometimes a H2 blocker in the evening. I found changing what I eat helps more than taking pills.
