Let me start by saying I was just at my doc and my heart is fine, he checked for a hiatel, and felt around my stomach but there was no pain. What I am having is alot of belching, a lump in my throat, and a pain that moves around in my chest from left to right. Funny thing is I get these symptoms mostly when I sit. I can excercise, golf, etc, and I have no pain or discomfort. I was just at the dr and my heart is fine. This pain starts in the top of my stomach behind the breast bone and feels like it sits there. Some times it will be on the left, bu mostly on the right side. My ribs ache to the touch some time.
Is this gerd and how can I stop this. I was taking some meds but have tried to get off of them. I fell when I havd a good burp, the pain goes away for a while.

Try over-the counter.

Also lay down on your left side and stretch out as far as you can. Alternate this with walking around. I also sit with a pillow in my lap and roick forward and back which often brings up a burp. Good luck!

Ok, I found something out today. I got this pain again, but only after twisted funny while driving. I had to turn around to see a parking spot behind me and twisted my chest really weird. (I have been fellign better the last couple of days before this). It seems like it is the "bone" between my rib cage that hurt or the muscle next to it. It also hurt when I coughed hard.  Can someone explain hiatel hernia ot me?

Ok, let me update:
I have been having some burning in the back of my throat lately and my stomach has been really cramping.  I had to have a BM today but had to wait so I think the cramps today were due to that.  The chest ache is milder than it has been though so that is good. I do have alot of gas. I have changed my diet to include the following : oatmeal and juice at breakfast, snacks include carrot sticks/grapes/banana (or similar selections). I eat a low fat lunch that also includes veggies and dinner the same. I have been trying to really bump up my fruit/veggie count to over 5 a day.  Could all this be causing the excess gas? I toot all day.
Something else, the chest ache moves to various sides and locations.
Odd is that I do not have any ofthis if I excercising (jogging/walking/golfing/etc) Last night my chest was bothering me when I laid down to bed. I had to change positions.
Does anyone else have it this way?
I should also say that I have finals this week at school and it seems to pickup with that!!
I do not feel stressed however as my job is fine and I am doing well at night school. My BP is the lowest it has been in months (108/76)

I have GERD really bad. Sometimes just drinking a glass of water gives me severe heartburn. I am on Prilosec right now but was taking Prevacid at one time. If I do not take my Prilosec (prescribed), I sometimes wake up choking and coughing from the acid. I am also on a medication called Reglan. I have crohn's disease and IBS as well as the GERD.
