GiftofGod,

I am glad you feel comfortable but would you be able to put all your questions into one post..................it helps the members to understand what your asking. :-)

In this case I am going to refer you to HealingWell's resource enter for GERD. Here is the link.  I think you may find your answers there.

http://www.healingwell.com/gerd/

Also your physician may be able to answer these questions for you as each person's disease is different and some can eat the things you can't.

A lot has to do with how severe your GERD is and what treatments you are on, meds etc.................

Take care and please look at your anxiety level.  Perhaps if you can lower that you will feel better too.

Kitt

To answer your question:

I think because the food we all love to eat is really poison to our bodies.  I think over time our bodies cannot handle the processed garbage we put into it day in a day out.  We are putting sugary, highly processed garbage into our stone aged bodies.  Naturally our bodies will revolt sooner or later.  We were created to eat an alkaline plant based diet with little meat.  Sugar is not a food, its a drug.  It actually has almost the same chemical make-up as cocain, and works the same way on our brains as cocain does.  It is a poison and food processors put it in everything so we will become addicted and buy more, hance we become sick and have to go to doctors and that makes the doctors more money, and then they prescribe us pills to conteract our diseases wrought upon us by our horrible diets which in turn makes drug companies rich.  Its a vicious cycle of sickness and greed.

Boy, what a wonderful society we live in.

I have posted this before, but will say it again in case it offers you a different perspective. It may be possible that you could in fact eat or drink anything you want and that it would make no difference. I tend to think that GERD is often a stress or suppressed anger affliction and that the symptoms pop up to distract us from our psychological pain. I think it is possible to switch symptoms from stomach to back pain to headaches...your body (in this theory) is looking for a chronic symptom. This theory explains really well why when I used to get the flu or a bad cold, my GERD would magically disappear. My body suddenly had other symptoms to distract it. While this may sound like a far-fetched theory, it is growing in popularity. I have used it to get rid of my GERD and go back to eating / drinking anything I want. I still get various stress symptoms from time to time (skin, stomach, headache, back pain), but I know them as stress afflictions and I know to slow down, do a mental check-in, get more rest and not immediately treat the symptom. This is tricky, of course, because we don't want to ignore pain when it could be something acute. So you just have to use your best judgment, talk with your doctor, etc. Anyway, I'm doing great, take no drugs and do no diet restrictions. I love to drink a beer now and then and eat chocolate, and now I can do it. I feel bad for people that have had those pleasures forever banished when there is no definite evidence that various foods do anything bad...there is just suspicion (like the previous suspicion that milk was good for an ulcer when it really wasn't.)

good luck

PS: I do drink a lot of water and find it very healing. But I drink everything else, too. : )
Edit:  I removed your derogatory comment re HealingWell.  If you do not approve of the site please find one that meets your needs.  HealingWell is not getting funded by the drug companies.
