I am now on day 18 since Nissen surgery.  Went and saw the surgeon yesterday and had stiches removed.  Everything is progressing as normal as expected.  I am starting to eat a little more solid food now and making sure I take very small bites and chew really really well. As a matter of fact I celebrated having my stiches out by eating some thin crust pizza YUM! YUM!  It was wonderful.

John and Janice.........how are both of you progressing?  Janice I hope your swallowing is coming along ok.  You will be able to eat some pizza before you know it!  John, I know you had your surgery right around the time I did how are you coming eating wise?  I hope your eating some solids.  I can't wait to be able to eat normal I know it won't be long.  At least we're heartburn free!!!!!!

Hi Scott! Congratulations on your progress! John and I had surgery the same day (7/16), but I think you're both ahead of me right now.

I am starting to feel a lot better, but I stay current on anti-nausea meds and gas-x and motrin...the gas-x chewables help to avoid that vapor lock feeling i get in my esophagus; hence no pain! I'm starting now to eat more. things are getting a little esier to swallow and my weight has stabilized..which means I haven't lost anything for the last two days! I think that's a good thing.

I didn't have stitches, at least not external stitches, just the steri-strips and the pain has decreased dramatically in the last two days. So all in all, I am progressing and I'm glad you are too!!

Scott,

Whooo hoooooo pizza, that is wonderful and I am sure it was a great treat for you.  It is good to hear you are on schedule.  Keep it up and please keep us posted.

I love a success story and there are many here.

Janice,

I am glad to hear your weight has stabilized and that the pain is less.  If you need something for nausea then IMHO you take it. :) I can see it won't be long now and you will be eating pizza too.

Kudos to you and I have you in my prayers.

Hugs
KItt

Scotty and Carolyn, good to hear from you.

I am eating more and more solid foods VERY slowly.  I was also able to have some thin crust pizza - and man it was good.  I had one slice and at about half of the whole piece and then just ate the toppings off of the rest of my portion :) :) :).

Janice, don't be discouraged - we all heal differently.  You sound like you are on your way and that is very encouraging.  I still take a little nauseu and pain meds before bed since my discomfort level still tends to kick in a bit in the evening.

I am still having odd back and shoulder pains.  I'm generally afraid of chiropractors but maybe I should give it a shot.  I have my follow up appointment with Dr. Louie this week so I'll see what he says about it.

As you know I am now working again and every day is still very tiring.  I start fading about mid afternoon but I somehow manage to hang in there until 5 and then I head for home and I'm in bed by 9:30 which is just about now.....so with that being said, I wish you all continued love and health.

JOHN
