For a very long time, Dr's thought that stress causes ulcers. Now they know that's not really the case and it's a bacteria HPylori that causes most cases of ulcers. I really think it's the same with GERD, although once you have GERD you have stress and then produce more acid. I read online about a Strepptococus Mutans that causes cavities and it's not sugar as previously thought. I wonder if the SM bacteria could actually be the cause of GERD or perhaps some other bacteria that researchers haven't discovered yet.
Gerd is big business for Pharma, do you think anyone is really doing any research to find out the cause and cure for it? The pills we take now reduce the acid, but it doesn't treat the cause.

From your post you stated "H-Pylori that causes most cases of ulcers." I do not have any info on how many cases of ulcers is caused by what but I do believe that there is work in progress on  the causes of GERD, Heart Burn and LPR.

I would suggest that if anyone has some links to legitimate studies they could post the links here in the forum. Please remember Sharing information is allowed, but the forums are not to be used to publish articles. It is an improper use of critical forum resources.
