I'm 29, and I've had gerd problems for a couple of years now. I had gastritis last year, but after a 2 month course of tablets I think it went away.  However, I don't know if its back or not.  I am getting alot of abdominal pain, loss of apetite, and occasionally stomach contractions.   For the past 3 days I've had a high temperature and a sort of tingling sensation in my face.

When I wake up in the morning my tongue is bright yellow, due to dryness I think when I'm asleep.  Also my sinus' get really dry and my nose feels bunged up or 'full'.  I've been back to the doctor loads of times, but he just keeps putting me on different tablets to stop the increase in acid.  I feel really down at the moment and have no energy.

After being diagnosed with gastritis last year, I stopped drinking, smoking and have recently started the gym, sometimes going 6 days a week, and eating healthily. I thought changing my lifestyle totally like this would avoid further problems, but alas no.  This temperature and tingling thing is bothering me a bit, do you think it is related to my gerd ?

Thanks

Good Morning and I am sorry that you are having issues and not getting better after multiple trips to your physician.

I am concerned that you may have more then one issue and I think perhaps it is time for you to seek a second opinion or find a new physician that you can build a trust relationship with.

You did not mention what your temperature is, would you mind sharing that with us?

Also I feel you have some possible anxiety issues that may be setting off your sx.  We have a great anxiety forum if you would like to take a look at it.  Most members with chronic disorders have anxiety and learning to deal with the anxiety can help many members.

Take care and keep posting.

Hi, the tingling and temperature thing have gone for time being which is good.  I came off the Omeprezole I was taking, so that would of been it.  I've just been taking Gaviscon Advance instead, but this doesn't seem to control the reflux as well.

It seems to go in a cycle of 2-3 weeks, where I'm fine, but then I get lots of upper abdominal pain and feel like I'm bloated, and constipated.  This goes on for a couple of days with the pain moving downwards and then a day of diahorrea, and then a couple of days of burping lots, and having lots of wind, then I'm back OK for a week or 2, then it starts again.

I can't figure out whats causing it.  This has been going on all year.  When I get reflux, I get a horrible taste in my mouth all the time and a sickly feeling in my stomach, but I never get heartburn.  Could exercise like situps cause this, or is it more likely to be something I've eaten ?  I don't know what I'm doing to give me all this pain and discomfort that lasts for about a week at at a time, I would be so happy if I could figure it out.

Hey there,

Are you exercising right after eating a meal? Can you try something else besides sit ups and see if you still have the problem.

Also do you have IBS?  You might talk with your physician re the diahorrea.

It is very hard to dx yourself as many things can cause the same sx.

Keep a journal and write down when you have your spells and what you were doing that day, what you ate.  Were you having a bad anxiety day etc.

Then you can review it looking for any commonalities.

Take care and keep posting.

I normally go to the gym and do weight training 4 times a week before eating.  I don't think it is the sit ups causing the problems, although they might not help.  It does look like it could be IBS, due to my stool being yellow in colour.  I will try and keep a diary again after this episode finishes.
