I am a 36 year old Hispanic female and I was diagnosed with Acid Reflux I take 40mg of Nexium twice a daythat's helped with heartburn Nausea, vomiting and heart palpitations and pain in ribs, shoulders I still have gas burping and otherwise   I have also had these symptoms for a while atleast 1 year or more with my throat pain in my throat when I touch and just pain in general trouble swallowing I also have lots of excruciating abdomonial pain and really bad stomach pain where I am hunched over when I have to go have a bowel movement I also feel nausea most of the time I don't know if this has to do with my Acid Reflux or if I have something else going on I spoke to My GI Dr. I have scheduled Upper Endoscopy on 9/19/08 to see what thei see and find if anything My Gi Thinks maybe part of it is that I need my Gall Bladder out But she will know more once tests come back. I also have Psoratic Arthritis and I take several meds for that I also had to have a full Hysterctomy last yeaar due to severe endometriosis. Im soo tired of feeling sick and in pain I don't know what to think has anyone else had these symptoms if so what is it or what could it be. Thanks for Listening Please advise me I'd appreciate it. PR Glo,

I have LPR, and my symptoms -- pretty classic according to my ENT - are not like yours. Obviously, I'm not a professional and can't make a diagnosis, but your symptoms don't seem like LPR, except maybe the trouble swallowing. Chronic sore throat, hoarseness, mucus in the throat, and a globus sensation are pretty common, it seems, for LPR. Lots of us don't get any heartburn or abdominal distress from it; I guess that's why they call this one "silent reflux."

You can find out more online at the ENT professional website.

I'm glad you've got some tests coming up that may give better answers.

I have GERD and most of my problems are with reflux.  I am on Prilosec and it has helped but I do have brek through and I have never been scoped.  I usually know how to deal with the GERD.

I am glad you are seeing your GI Doctor and having the scope.

Keep us posted to how you are doing.

I am also taking 40MG of Nexium twice a day and additional Mylanta when needed.  Although it has helped a lot, I still have the mucus on ny throat, tightness of the throat, bloating and burping.  It's really frustrating, but it's good to know that you are not alone. Aside from this, I have anxiety. I am happy that I found this forum.  Just by reading that others have the same issue, made me feel better.  Let me know how your endoscopy goes.  I think I may have to have one done soon.

Hey everybody, its long but please read it all (lauging)

i just signed up for this forum, so i wanted to introduce myself. I have GERD and i am only 20 years old. My GERD started when i was only 18. BeesGee your right, it makes me feel better to read other peoples thoughts and views on the same situation i am in. But about my GERD...when i first was diagnosed at 18, it came outta no where at first i got really freaked out because i thought it was a problem with my heart, cuz i had heart palpatations, arms was kinda numb every now and then and i had chest pain, and abdominal pain with pain in my shoulders and back at times...it was TERRIBLE. I literally felt like i was dying. So i went to the heart doctor and they did test and determined my heart was fine and nothing wrong there, which was a huge relief so he sent me to a stomach doctor. he did an upper GI and the bravo test...they determined that i had GERD. they put me on Prevacid for the treatment, which i took my about a month, before i did some research and came acrossed a book called NATURAL CURES THEY DONT WANT YOU TO KNOW about, and by they, it means the government. It's a good book, the government tried to put the author in jail for exposing these things he wrote about in the book.

but, ...i stopped taking the prevacid, cuz it is ok to take prevacid ot an PPI for 4-8 weeks but after that, you should not take it, over a long period of time, it can do more damage plus all of the side effects. but i did some natural things to relieve my GERD, and it idd control with a eating change as well. but im young and of course then went back to eating bad foods again and now 2 years later i have it bad again.

but now after alot of research and also have already going through this before i know what im going to do. becuz i see all this barrett's stuff, and i dont wanna get that when im older.

and ive been doin what ive planned for 3 days now and its workin.

i wake up and drink 2 ounces of natural aloe vera juice. then for breakfast ive been eating either banana, or banana with a lil organic peanut butter, or grits. or scrambled egg whites... yogurt, i get all my stuff organic...walmart now had organic yogurt, and yogurt has enzymes in it for digestion. you can google good breakfast foods for reflux and whatnot. and see what fits ya best. i also drink a fruity smoothie right after breakfast. go to wal mart and ya can get one ya like...BOLTHOUSE makes them.

lunch...i been eating tuna salad, and a kashi granola bar. i chew all my food now slowly and good. ive found bread is hard to digest for me so ive elminated that.

i dont eat spicy foods no more, antything with tomato sauce, i limit cheese. and def avoid overeating and dont go to bed for atleast 3 hours after eating.

but LOL thats all for now i dont wanna take the whole page up talking...
