Dear Members of GERD and Heartburn,

I apologize to Anne and to anyone else who feels that I have not supported them or recognized them. I am extrememly sorry if my actions have caused anyone to feel left out.

Each and everyone of you inspire me and I feel very comfortable here as I know you are all taking care of each other.  I am proud to moderate this forum.

I have never had the surgery but I do have GERD so Anne you are right, everyone on the site has their concerns and pain to deal with. I will try to do better and recognize as many as I can while also continuing to help and support all the members of this very special forum.

My promise to myself when I became a moderator for HW was to do NO harm and I live by that promise. Anne, I hope you stay with us.

Respectfully,
Kitt

 Thank you Kitt...

I know it was not a personal thing against me ...you are a wonderful moderator and you truly care. I know that and so does everyone else. I do appreciate your understanding of what I was conveying in my message.....I just felt like we were only talking about the surgery and I felt left out...silly, I know, but my feelings were hurt. I have Gerd very bad at times and yes the Protonix works very well for me most of the time. I had been at one time or another on all the medicines for reflux and thank God this one works for me. My GI doc wanted me to have the surgery but as I stated ages ago I cannot have it. The manometry study showed I don't swallow well enough... confused  I, do however know that lifestyle changes make a huge difference for me. If I don't overeat, avoid the nono's in the food group and get exercise I feel really good most days. It is just so nice to know that after years of pain and wondering what was wrong with me I can say , yes, I have Gerd and yes, it is not fun, but I have all of you to talk with and get support from.

Thank you for letting me get this off my chest.

I truly do feel blessed to call you all ....friend.

take care, Anne

Anne,

Thank you for understanding.  As you stated simple lifestyle alterations and medications are effective.  I sleep on my left side as studies have shown that reflux was most severe when patients were on their right side.

It is not always easy to maintain the lifestyle changes but we do the best we can and you are living proof that this method of treatment does work.

I am glad the PPI medication works well for you most of the time. A single daily dose of a PPI suppresses gastric acid production almost completely and promotes healing of damaged tissue.

It is a rough deal that you cannot have the surgery if you need it.  Is there any other treatment that does not require open surgery?

Know that I understand the pain and reflux of GERD is truly not a good deal and I am proud of you for handling your GERD in the best way you can under your conditions. You have been your own best advocate in this war on GERD so keep it up as you are holding the line at this point.

My prayers are offered for you to stay well and do come here and get the latest info and contribute as you have been.  You are part of the family of HW and we are huge. Over 60,000 registered members.

Take care and gentle hugs,

Kitt
