Hey all,

This is Kitt............. a little vent. My insurance company informed me starting March 2009 they will no longer cover Nexium, Aciphex and Prilosec. Your Doctor will be required to provide certain clinical information to support the use of this medicine to the insurance Preauthorization department.

So I would have to go to the Doctors and get him to fill out a form, like that will ever get done. I take Prilosec for goodness sake.

Oh yes I have one other option, I can pay for the wole RX out of my pocket.
Any suggestions such as should I just stop the medication?
Befuddled in MN
Thanks all,
Kitt

Hi Kitt,

The paper work shouldnt be a problem. I had to go through that with my Zegerid which is prilosec with baking soda. The gastro filled out the form once, explaining why I needed it, and why I could take "tums" and the like.  He was prompt about it too. After all I did need the medicine.  And one form was all it took. My refills have  even been called in by my internist, without issue. With all that said I suggest go and get the paper work filled out.  I think your doctor will understand. Keep me posted!

Cordelia,

Thank you, I will call the insurance company tomorrow to ask about the paper work needed.

My regular MD writes all my RXs for the non andtidpressants and he is leaving his practice the first part of December.  He has been my Physician for 25 years.  I will have to break in a new one.  smhair

Again  thank you for replying.

Kitt
