Hi! I was wondering how long everyone used their pain meds after the Nissen Fundo? I have been trying to use liquid tylenol and motrin but today I have  been having chest pain and took my narcotic at lunch time. I am trying to just take it at night time. I called the Doctor today to have my prescription refilled but I don
't want my Doctor to think I am a drug addict. I know everyone is different, but wanted to get an idea.

Everyone is different, but most people were surprised at how long they did need their pain meds. I had some exceptional pain and was on a fentanyl patch for a week; after that I was on something (can't remember now what it was and don't want to go look!) with liquid motrin for awhile. Finally I was on the motrin for a good long time after that point. I'm thinking maybe 4 weeks total?? Others were off meds really fast, most were not.

You're okay; you're paying attention to your intake and the doctors should be okay with you asking for more.

Hiya! I'm 15 days post op, I More or less stopped my meds 7 days post op due to the fact i had no bowel movement and was given codine based meds. I've recently had awful chest pains and back ache so started taking them again only when i need too. I'm a firm believer in taking too many meds can make you get used to them n they stop working (my opinion).
Your doc will be the last person who thinks ur a drug addict!! ;)

I remember using mine for about 3 days pretty consistently...then caved in a couple more times in the following days.  I had no need for them 7 days post-op, but I know other people's recovery didn't go as well as mine.  I would have called the surgeon if I felt I needed them...don't feel bad about it.

You are all heroes and yes each of you is different on how long you need the pain meds.  Don't let the pain get out of control, try to stay on top of it to begin with.

You are all brave and awesome.

I salute each of you.
