I had a nissen fundoplication, hiatel hernia repair and gall bladder removal all at once.  I have still to this day not been able to stop the maalox and Nexium.  My stomach burns and has excruitiating pain worse than ever.  I feel like I am being ripped open.  The sight and smell of food makes me sick.  The foods I once loved, I have no desire for.  I bloat up with terrible foul gas and its constant.  I don't like to get out of the house.  I live in the Louisiana/Texas area and I am looking for a doctor to undue this procedure.  I would like to know if there is anyone that has had a reversal and if so, how are they doing and what is the effects of a reversal.  Also I heard something mentioned about a toupee (partial wrap).  I would like to know the pros and cons of that.  Also if anyone knows of a "good" surgeon in my area, please let me know.  I have been in a plant explosion and shot three times at point blank range with a shotgun and this pain is right up there with both of them or worse.   Please Help!!! Any information would be appreciated.

Thanks

Haloking, I'm so sorry to hear that you're doing so poorly. I had the same trio that you did and I am doing very well at 4 months post-op. My point in telling you this is not to make you feel bad, but to highlight the idea that something is very, very wrong.

My surgeon specializes in fixing others mistakes: Dr. Thomas Rice, at Cleveland Clinic; that is the best I can offer you, except a shoulder to lean on.

I would discuss these concerns with your  gastroenterologist or surgeon.  Reversing the fundoplication  can be considered if them symptoms continue.

An evaluation of the  the upper GI tract with an endoscopy is indicated.
Gallbladder endoscopy or upper GI series.  A 24-hr pH study can be considered to determine if there is residual GERD (

Thank you both for your responses.  I am hopeful that I get some replies regarding reversal or a toupee (partial wrap).  The surgeon refuses to reverse it and doesn't seem to want to address the situation.  I am not sure of who else in the area does these procedures.  Hopeful someone can shed some light for me.

Thanks

hi
just wanted to say hello and offer a concerned ear as well...
you have been through so much
I hope that you get to a doctor who will look at all the options to heal you
I also am glad that someone was able to help us see that this surgery is not always the answer, thank you for that
If I run across any info on docs and the reversal I will send it your way
keep us posted
God bless

Good Morning Oakley,

I am still looking for a doctor.  It is hard when they are not local doctors.  The one that did the surgery says he never reverses them and he won't do it.  I appreciate everyone's responses and keep me in your prayers.  And you are right surgery is not always the answer!!  I hope everyone is getting some feeling of relief today!  I wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving!  Although the food part itself is sooo tough!!

God Bless!

haloking,

We have not forgotten about you and keep talking to us.  If you want to share which part of the country you are from, west, midwest etc, someone may have a physician's name for you.

I hope you have a pleasant holiday and thanks to Annie for her support too.

Kitt

Thanks Kitt,

I am from southwest Louisiana.  That's why I was looking for any doctors in Louisiana or Texas.  I started passing blood and my stomach hurts all the time and I am real bloated.  I've had so much happen to me.  God is apparently not ready for me yet.   Happy Thanksgiving to you and everyone.

Thanks Haloking

Haloking,

Johns Hopkins also may be an option. I just checked their website and they have a remote second opinion program. Its pricey $500.00 not including pathology  report interpretation, and insurance might not cover it. At least you'll get an answer from good Docs, and you wont have to travel. Just a thought.
