My GI is recommending surgery and it looks like not to many alternatives.  Here is my history:
47 YOA, 5'8" 165lbs
Abd pain since 11 yoa
Subtotal Gastrectomy & Duodenectomy @ 24
Subtotal Gastrectomy & Vagotomy @ 25
Partial Lap Nissen (Toupet) @ 35
Necrotic bowel resection @ 37
To many EGD to count
EMS this week
Bravo Ph finished today
Barrett's Esophagus verified by bx last month
My current problem is frequent (avg once per hour) severe reflux.  Had to do Ph test because I don't feel acid burn any more.  Ph during reflux periods varied from 1.6 to 4.2.
My surgeon had problems with the Lap Nissen due to scar tissue and doesn't believe a lap surgery will be successful.  He will attempt it but says not to be surprised if he has to open.  They want to take the rest of my stomach leaving only enough to keep the toupet patent.  The belief is that even after all of my surgeries I have to many parietal cells left in my stomach continuing to produce to much acid.
I take 40mg Protonix twice daily and 30mg Prevacid Solutabs twice daily without much success.
Do any of you have any experience with any other treatments or have you heard of any?  I am a small guy and am fairly certain losing my stomach is going to take what little weight I have.

hey, you have been thru so much
I take protonix too and it works great for me .
I cannot have the surgery.....I had the manometry test and I dont swallow well....oh well.....
I see that you are of a good weight for your height and understand what your predicament is.
Can you possibly get better with a strict diet ?
If the surgery is necassary will that mean that you will be fed thru a tube ??
gosh sakes for you.
