I have had IBS and reflux and a hietal hernia since I was 12, I am now 30, I also have fibromyalgia.
The trouble that I am having now started about a year ago.  I have upper abdonmial pain in the center and it feeels like someone is pinching me or strangling me inside. The area in the center and under my chest on both side gets so sore sometimes it is tender to the touch.  with nexium and elavil and klonopin and now acupunture, I have had better days but since Sunday afternoon, the pain has been excruciating.  and it hurst in my back as well.  I went to the ER when it started because the pain was so bad i couldn't eat and I had so much diarhea, I am usually constipated.  They took a cat scan and said I had gastritis and some inflamation in my intestines but no infection. I had an endoscopy and colonoscopy and they said it was just my IBS Reflux and Hietal hernia.  They did a cat scan a few weeks later and the inflamation had gone down.
I feel crazy, how can I have pain for a year and it not be anything serious! Does anyone else have the same problem where you have had multiple tests and they say it's just the normal IBS, reflux, hietal hernia bothering me. I am at work and I can't decide whether to go to the doctor or not.  I have intense pain in the upper center of my abdomin, burning, soreness under both sides of my chest and pain in my back in my shoulders and the middle.  sometimes when I rub the area for a long period of time it will subside for a  while.  Alsom I can't understand why I can feel better for days and then feel so bad again!
If anyone has any advice I woudl appreciate it.  I know that I am getting anxious about it because tomorrow it will be a year since this all started and I am sure the anxiety is worsening my pain, but I feel crazy!

Good morning Jaime,

Gerd pain can be excruciating, and at times totally unbearable, as I'm sure others will tell you. You mentioned that you rub the areas for a long time and that sometimes helps. To me it sounds as if there is muscular component as well, the messaging loosing the tense areas. Since it comes and goes, you may have a food sensitivity. I suggest keeping a diary of what you eat and your symtoms. Food sensitivities can come on suddenly. I was up all night due to GERD and didnt have the strength to go to the ER. I did a review of what I ate and discovered the culprit was rye...Never again. Anyway I hope this helps. Take care and keep posting.
