What if any fiber supplement do you take?

What do you recommed?

My doc recommended Citrucel or Benefiber.

I have read here where one poster took Metamucil fiber wafer and another suggested whatever it should have psyllium hunk included.

Your thoughts and recommendations with your experience would be greatly appreciated'

Thanks :-)

Hey there,

I take Fibercon and have for years.  I had severe IBS and it has helped.

Good Luck and Happy Thanksgiving to you.

Happy Friday,

I actually use the fiber one cereal bars. Its not exactly a supplement, but it works.

I eat as many fiber rich foods as I can. I also try to eat one yogurt a day which I add ground flax seed to. The yogurt helps to stimulate good bacteria in your stomach and the flax seed acts as a soluble fiber which helps to regulate bowl movements. For me, it helps :)

Kitt, thanks for you input!  I bought the Citrucel, but I am taking it back and may go with the Benefiber for now.

kimmie, the yogurt is a good idea too, I bought some and then forgot about it, now expired.  I have to get some more.  I will look into the ground flaxseed.

Cordelia, I was eating the Fiber 1 bars for awhile and then also for got about them too.

My problem is I am always afraid to try something new for fear of upsetting the applecart smilewinkgrin Thanks :-)

Hi Mary,

I usually buy dannon activa but found that fiber-one yogurt and dannon natural yogurt are good substitutes when I can not get the activa. Hope this helps.

Kimmie11,

Yogurt, along with other dairy, is an acid food so if you are trying to heal from GERD limit these foods for a while.

Try to eat more alkaline foods.
Some alkaline foods are: tofu, dates, dried figs, bananas, quinoa, millet, alkaline vegetables, avocados
Watermelon is the most alkaline fruit.

These are also foods that help immensely with constipation.
